Frequently Asked Questions
iOS: GymPsycho automatically syncs via iCloud when you're signed into the same Apple ID. Make sure iCloud is enabled in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.
Android: Use Backup Export/Import in Settings → Management → Backup. Export your data as a JSON file and import it on your new device. Smart Merge ensures no data is lost.
Yes! Deleted workouts go to a trash bin and can be recovered within 30 days. Go to Settings → Management → Trash to restore deleted items.
Yes! Open the session in Progress → History and tap the menu (⋮) → Edit Workout. You can change sets, weights, reps, and notes — PRs and analytics update automatically. You can also tag warm-up sets so they don't count toward your working-set analytics.
You can create multiple gyms in Settings → Gyms. Each gym has its own PRs, weight units (kg/lbs), and training plans. When you start a workout, it uses the currently selected gym's settings.
Make sure the GymPsycho app is installed on your Apple Watch (it should install automatically). When you start a workout on iPhone, the Watch app will sync automatically.
Open the Play Store on your Wear OS watch (or use the Play Store on the paired phone) and search for "GymPsycho". Install it directly on the watch — it runs on Wear OS 3 and newer. Open the app on the watch and accept the heart-rate permission (you can postpone it). The watch app is a companion: start the workout on your phone and the watch shows your current set, the rest timer with haptics and your live heart rate, and lets you restart the rest timer from your wrist. Sets are ticked off in the phone app, and the paired phone needs to be with you. Full detail: gympsycho.com/wear-os/
GymPsycho uses strict PR logic: a Reps PR only counts when you do more reps at your maximum weight or higher. Doing more reps at a lower weight doesn't count as a PR.
One dumbbell. If you press two 35 lb dumbbells, enter 35 lb — that is what the weight field means for every dumbbell exercise, and it is the same convention Hevy and Strong use, so an imported history needs no conversion. For alternating and single-arm exercises, count the reps per arm: 10 alternating curls each side is 10 reps, not 20. Two reasons — the work per muscle is 10 reps, and the estimated 1RM behind your strength trend is only accurate up to 12 reps, so a doubled count flattens it. Barbell exercises work the other way round: enter the total load, bar plus all plates. What matters most is consistency per exercise — never switch conventions mid-history, because PRs and trends compare your entries over time.
iOS: Go to Settings → HealthKit and enable the integration. GymPsycho reads sleep, weight, and steps data, and writes workouts to your Activity Rings.
Android: Go to Settings → Health Connect and enable the integration. GymPsycho reads sleep, weight, steps and heart rate from Health Connect, and exports workout calories and distance.
Yes! GymPsycho works 100% offline. Your data is stored locally on your device. On iOS, iCloud sync happens automatically when you're back online. On Android, data is protected via Google Auto Backup.
Go to Settings → Management → Reset PR Baseline. This sets today as the new starting point for PR calculations without deleting any workout history.
Yes! GymPsycho is available on both iOS and Android with the same core features: training, PR tracking, AI insights, training plans, and more. The Android version includes Health Connect integration, a persistent workout notification during training, and full backup export/import.
The Plan Generator (free) creates personalized, science-based training plans in under 60 seconds. You answer 8 questions — training days per week, available equipment, experience level, goals, recovery profile, muscle priorities, session duration & limitations — and get ready-to-use plans tailored to your needs. The generator uses the same volume landmarks (MEV/MAV/MRV) as the built-in tracking. Find it on the Home Screen or under Settings → Plans. Free for everyone, no Pro required.
Go to Settings → Management → Backup. Use "Export Backup" to save all your data as a JSON file via the share menu. To restore on the same or a different device, use "Import Backup" — Smart Merge ensures no existing data is lost. Additionally, Android Auto Backup protects your data automatically via Google Drive.
